The National Human Rights Commission has expressed deep concern over rising cases of kidnapping of school children in different parts of the country particularly in the northern part where a staggering number of this vulnerable group has been forcefully whisked away to unknown destinations with no strategies for safe return in sight.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has advocated for the amendment of necessary legislation to provide for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug users, as well as the adoption of non-custodial measures for appropriate cases in order to avoid human rights violations.

The National Human Rights Commission has expressed concern over flagrant violations of the rights of drug users especially by owners of private rehabilitation or treatment centers.

As Nigeria joins the rest of the international community to celebrate the 2021 World Refugees Day, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is calling on the governments at all levels and other duty bearers to give more attention to Refugees, IDPs, Returnees, Migrants and other persons in vulnerable situations to pave the way for inclusiveness and nondiscrimination.
